"Writing the book, Near Suicide was an interesting venture.  Janie actually came to me in the middle of a nursing lecture.  Her voice was loud and I jotted down my thoughts,  how I thought the character should look and what type of personality she would have.  I started to put my notes into a storyline,  and after the first five chapters flowed out,  I actually had a block.  I tried putting into words how I wanted the story to go,  but it just wouldn't come out on paper the right way.  So I took a break and six years later,  I finally finished it.  I never thought it would become published,  but after I had a few friends and colleagues proof read it and they came back with how they loved it,  I submitted it.  Ta Da!  Near Suicide is now published.  There is only 124 pages in this publication, but it is action packed and will leave you wanting more.  Watch for the sequel :).

There are a lot of teens that are abused and/or become pregnant at an early age.  Most of them try to hide it and become deeply depressed and withdrawn.  Not everyone will turn out like Janie,  but I want people to know that there is help out there.  Don't let yourself be drawn into the darkness of solitude,  you do have a choice.  Find that someone to confide in.  Don't be afraid to speak up and stand outside the circle."
